Bruxism Treatment with Botox®

bruxism

Many people deal with the habit of bruxism treatment or teeth grinding. It can happen during the day or while sleeping and may be caused by stress, tension, or anxiety. Bruxism can cause:

  • Headaches
  • Jaw soreness
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
  • Damage to teeth over time
  • Worsening pain and tension

Dr. Irina Frolov

Botox therapy (botulinum toxin) is a relatively new and innovative treatment for bruxism. Botox therapy involves injecting Botox into the muscles that cause the pain and tension leading to teeth grinding. Typically the offenders are the masseter and/or temporalis muscles acting on the jaw.

If you are a good candidate for Botox as a treatment for bruxism, after your initial consultation you can be in and out of Miracle Dental Center in about an hour for your Botox therapy treatment. Dr. Frolov will administer injections of the Botox to weaken the masseter and/or temporalis muscles, which can provide you with near-instant relief from your symptoms. Botox therapy lasts between 3 and 6 months at a time on the targeted muscles.

Dr. Frolov is a member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics (AAFE), the leaders in the field, and is a certified specialist in Botox and dermal filler treatments. You can rest assured knowing that your provider has the proper training for a delicate treatment such as oral Botox therapy.
